Houston Eye, Mark Vital M.D.

" I am ecstatic about my visit with Dr. Vital. I was losing my sight as a result of diabetic cataracts. Dr. V's office treated me like family and their wisdom is simply incredible. I was totally at ease. After my surgery, I simply found myself in tears as a result of finally being able to see my face, as well as my wife's and children's faces. I felt as though I had received a new prize in life! Thank YOU so much for what YOU do. Even though it's your profession, and you've experienced this for years , this was the first time in my life that I've experienced this limitation. I didn't know how much I missed my eyesight! Blessings to all of YOU! I thoroughly recommend Dr. Vital whose experiencing this problem!!"

"Always attentive, as quick as can be, and definitely very knowledgeable."

"Dr. Vital is a wonderful doctor. He's very compassionate and makes you feel that he cares (and he truly does) and puts your mind at ease. I had my surgery done by Dr. Vital over a year ago. I am more than pleased with the outcome. I am 60 plus years old and I had worn eye glasses all my life. After my first surgery with Dr. Vital , I could actually see with out my glasses. I could drive at night and believe me, this was a miracle too me. My only regret is not having the surgery done earlier. Dr. Vital is a great asset to your practice. He's an excellent doctor, eye surgeon and he cares about his patients. He treats his patients like family. Thank you, Dr. Vital."

"I suffered with a corneal problem for over ten years and had gone to a regular opthalmologist where I lived at the time who tried to treat my situation and after repeated visits without success, referred me to a practice that was strictly corneal specialists. They performed repeated painful debridement procedures over and over again without any long-lasting resolution to the problem. When we moved to the Houston area I was directed to another opthalmologist who told me that I had "dry eyes" and prescribed eye drops which did absolutely nothing ti solve the problem. I finally found Dr. Vital who said that I did not have repeated corneal abrasions as had been diagnosed with the first set of corneal specialists but that I actually had something called corneal erosion. He performed a procedure in the office called microstromal puncture. Ten years later when I came to see him for a routine eye exam he asked me which eye had been affected and I honestly couldn't remember and the exam showed no scarring or any other evidence of the procedure he did. The only way he was able to tell which eye had been affected was by having his assistant look up my medical records. I will forever be grateful for his most excellent care and will continue to use him as my opthalmologist of choice."

Houston Eye Doctor
Doctor Vital

I’ve been fascinated by eyes ever since my sixth grade science teacher assigned our class a project on the organs of the human body.  I still have that report and it has led me on a fantastic journey.  My team and I pledge to provide excellent care, communication, and service to help you see, look, and feel better.

I enjoy performing comprehensive eye exams as well as treating complex ocular issues such as infections, trauma, corneal dystrophies, corneal scars, pterygea, cataracts and other anterior segment problems. My office works hard to accommodate major and minor ocular emergencies quickly.  My patients come from all over the Houston Metroplex and in some cases beyond the borders of Texas.

My philosophy for the practice of ophthalmology is to deliver quality medical and surgical interventions, when medically necessary, on an individualized basis, that help to preserve and improve your ocular and general health.
