Dr. Vital, what are your qualifications?

Patients may be shy about it but often want to ask, “Dr. Vital, tell me about your qualifications and experience.”

I completed 13 years of education beyond high school which included 4 years of college at Rice University in Houston, 4 years of medical school at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas, 1 year of internship at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, 3 years of ophthalmology residency at University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, and 1 year of corneal and external and infectious disease at Houston Eye Associates under Dr. Jeffrey Lanier.  Many conditions that cause red eyes, eye pain, and blurred vision fall under my care.

I began performing microsurgery surgery in 1993 and typically perform hundreds of cataract surgeries and over 100 corneal transplants each year.  I also perform other anterior segment and ocular surface eye surgeries.  I frequently help patients recover from cataract surgery complications.  Additionally, I perform eye surgeries following eye injuries and infections.  I’m happy to see you in my Houston or Memorial City clinic location to help solve your eye problems or just to help keep your eyes in top shape.
